Interview with the Vampire
First written in 1976 Published in 1979

Anne Rice's first book was published in 1976 although it was first written as a short story. It had taken an while before she managed to have it published.
This book was the first of it's kind and so a lot of reviewers didn't know how to take it.
These type of books are easier to find thanks to Anne Rice.
The start of the book is very strange not like most. Starting at the presant time and a meeting between Daniel the reporter and Louis the Vampire. A Interview an story Louis wants to tell his story.
Louis tells his from the time he was made an vampire in 1791 by Lestat, a vampire he comes to love and hate. He tells of an child vampire Claudia and Armand and his coven.
This Louis wants to tell his story and he will.
A very moving very sad at times detailed with fully rounded charcters you end up caring for. You just want to find out more about these vampires and you will if you contine reading Anne Rice's other books.
Best bits about it Vampires, Lestat, History, detailed charcters.
Worst bits
Start is a bit boring, Daniel, it wasn't long enough.
The book is best for people who like Vampire's and dark novels. Like finding out about history of vampires. The book is not for those who do not like detailed books or blood. Don't expect to get an happy ever after story the end is an suprise.

The Vampire Lestat
1985

The story of Interview with an Vampire followed Louis and so this book is about Lestat.
The book starts with Lestat explaining why he wrote the book. It then goes on to tell about his rise out of the earth and his descion to become an Rock Star. The group he choses is Satan's Night Out and they are renamed The Vampire Lestat.
He puts his plan together writes songs makes an album and films video's and to write his life story. He wants all this to be secret and released at the same time.
The book follows not only his Vampire life but his mortal life to. That is what makes this book. You see the year before he becamean Vampire so you understand why he was choosen to be one.
This is my favourite Anne Rice book this gives an totally different view of Lestat than the Interview with the Vampire book. You begin to understand why he acts like he does.
The story follows his journy with Nicolas at first then his mothr. Then Lestat is by himself so it follows his journy to met Marcuis and those who must be kept.
Although it mentions his time with Louis and Claudia this is only an few pages.
The book has an additional chapter added after the events at the Vampire Lestat Rock concert.
Lestat has woken someone who should not have been woken up.
